St. Joseph Hospital, Orange – Operating Room Lighting and Boom Replacement
Owner: Providence Health Services
Architect: Lionakis
General Contractor: AV Construction
Structural Engineer: KPFP
Electrical Engineer: Design West Engineering
Location: Orange, CA
OC&M successfully completed the phased replacement of Stryker lighting and booms across all 16 operating rooms at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, CA. Each operating room was individually taken out of service to allow for the removal of existing equipment, installation of new conduit, power, data, and control panels, followed by wall and ceiling patching, and the commissioning of new lighting and booms.
To minimize disruption to hospital operations, the project was executed during off-hours in 16 meticulously planned phases over a 10-month period. Each phase incorporated stringent infection control measures and required inspection and approval by HCAi. The project posed unique challenges due to the complexities of working within an OSHPD 1 facility, requiring meticulous coordination and adherence to stringent regulatory standards.
OC&M led the project by negotiating the contract with the general contractor, overseeing construction and scheduling, managing the procurement and installation of all owner-furnished equipment, and administering the complete project budget.
