Soka University

Working closely with the design team, Phil Okerlund provided Estimating and Preconstruction Services for Phase One of the Soka University campus, a private university located on 103 acres above Aliso Viejo. The site design included a variety of plazas and terraces, plus 4 fountains, 8 koi ponds and a 300,000-gallon lake. Perched on a deeply sloped site, the project required over 60,000 square feet of structural retaining walls. Phase One comprised 14 buildings, including a library, academic buildings and science labs, dormitories and a student center that features a domed copper clad rotunda and six lofty 30 high stone columns.
